Colorado Portraits

Taking good portraits means more than cameras, lighting, flashes, etc.  Good subjects make all the difference!

Warmth & Cards

Sometimes the simple things in life are all you need.  Such as warmth and a game of cards with good friends.  Composed and taken at Vance's Cabin in the Colorado backcountry in the dead of winter at 11,000' on  a snowy night.  Warmth indeed! Warmth and comfort in the backcountry

Fast cars in Prague

Ok, so these two Ferraris are not going fast in this picture but they sure have the capability to do so! This was taken in Prague in September of last year.  We heard them reverberating from several blocks away due to the acoustics of the tight spaces on the Prague streets.  I got my camera out just in time to get this quick photo.  Enjoy! Ferrari - so classic.

The Memorial of Jan Palach

Jan Palach was a Czech student who was part of a movement to protest the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.  He signed a suicide pact with other students to protest the invasion by the Soviets.  Although he was one of the few who actually went through with the pact, his death set off a flurry of anti-Soviet activity over the next two decades.  Finally in 1989 during 'Jan Palach Week', the demonstrations escalated and were one of the catalysts for the fall of the communism soon after. This memorial lies in Wencelas Square in current day Prague, Czech Republic.  It never ceases to amaze me the things I have come across in my travels.  I hope you enjoy this picture and it's significant part in history...

Train car in Lincoln

I recently braved a very cold day in Lincoln, Nebraska to attempt to get some shots around this great midwestern town.  However since the wind was blowing around 30mph and it was about 10 degrees out, my photo mission was short lived.  I couldn't quite get myself to stay out in well below zero windchills that day! I will be back for more shots in Lincoln though, as the revived town has a lot of potential for interesting subjects especially the balance between old & new and college & traditional flavor.

Here is one I managed to snag of a train car, something about the yellow and lines latch really drew me in...
