Getting creative with the cell phone camera...

So most of us have those sometimes useful and often annoying devices called cell phones these days.  And most of them have a camera on them as well.  Since most of us don't always want to lug a big SLR camera with us everywhere all the time, or even a point & shoot the cell phone camera can come in handy at times.  You can argue that a 2 mega pixel cell phone camera isn't a great camera by any stretch.  This is true.  However with a little creativity and helpful editing software my iPhone camera is suddenly a bit more useful.  Enter the 'Best Camera' app from photographer Chase Jarvis. I had been looking for a decent camera app that would apply some simple filters and perhaps some cropping action.  Turns out he pretty much nailed it with this one.  There are some standard filters to apply such as blue or yellow.  Or you can get more creative with a sepia tone, high contrast, or that metro pop look a lot of folks like these days.

So after downloading the app, I found myself waiting for the Metra train in Chicago to head out to visit some friends.  I snapped a pic of a passing train, applied a filter and bamo!  Uploaded right to my Facebook account and instantly sharing with the world!  Pretty handy indeed!  Where is the pic you ask?  Here you go...

Waiting on the Metra

So it is with this new fancy app that I intend on trying to capture the world around me when I don't have one of my 'real' cameras with me.  I challenge you to do the same even if you don't have a fancy application to help out.  Now get out there and start shooting!
