A Rainy Paris Walk

Paris in the rain is one of my favorite versions of Paris. While it can be challenging to walk all day trying to keep both myself and my gear dry, it often rewards the effort with unexpected moments.

The morning started with a gorgeous sunrise that lasted all of about five minutes before the sky quickly turned gray, shifted briefly to snow, and then settled into a steady rain for the rest of the day. After breakfast at my favorite local coffee joint in the 8th arrondissement, I jumped on Line 1 and hopped off at Palais Royal to start my walk.

I shot the day with my Sony RX10iv, which is not weather sealed, so the conditions definitely kept me on my toes. Despite its small sensor and the fact that it cannot quite match my Fuji gear, I still love how capable and versatile it is, especially when I want to stay light and keep moving.

After six miles in the cold and wet, and somehow not killing my camera, I was eventually satisfied with the day’s frames. I headed to one of my favorite Parisian pubs to warm up and reward myself with a tasty local pint.

I never tire of exploring this city. It just keeps giving. Some days you just have to suck it up and enjoy the rain.

A Journey to the Isle of Skye

We had the pleasure of visiting Scotland back in May and naturally fell right in love. From the warm hospitality of the people to the dramatic landscapes that seem straight out of a storybook, every turn felt like discovering a new treasure. While Edinburgh’s cobbled streets and the Highlands’ sweeping views left us in awe, it was the rugged beauty of the Isle of Skye that truly captured our hearts.

The island feels like another world at times, where jagged peaks meet rolling green hills, waterfalls tumble into the sea, and every bend in the road reveals a scene more breathtaking than the last. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, wander off the beaten path, and simply let the landscape work its quiet magic.

Travel Dreaming

I really miss travel. The views, the smells, the jet lag, the food, the uncertainty, the adventure. All of it, good & bad.

This was the scene waking up one gorgeous fall morning on Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. We had slept well in our tiny camper van through the cool night and were glad to see the clouds had parted for this scene to come together. With fresh snow on the mountains and a crisp morning we were ready for another day of adventure.

This has certainly been a challenging year for travel, but we’ll be back. For now hoping you & yours are safe and well. Where would you escape to if you could right now?
